The company was founded in 1966 by Piero Ambrogio Busnell. Soon thereafter, it became an international reference for upholstered furnishing because they were the first in their industry to introduce a new industrial and technological approach for manufacturing furnishings. B&B Italia’s philosophy is acknowledging the importance of research as a fundamental aspect of future development. Through the years, B&B Italia has used several different technologies: the use of cold polyurethane foam mouldings and the mass production of synthetic resin pre-impregnated fibreglass products in cooperation with Bayer, the employment of Dacron padding with Dupont de Nemurs, the manufacturing of metal sofa frames with a ten-year guarantee and mechanisms designed by CR&S.
